All four couples circle and back
9–16
First couple cast off on own side followed by second, third and fourth couples crossing over at foot of the dance and dancing up the wrong side. (Phrasing – Cast off for 3, first couple cross over on bar 4, second on bar 5, third on bar 6, fourth on bar 7, each woman crossing in front of partner. On bar 8, all should be in two straight lines, facing up.
17–24
All four couples facing top slip 4 steps to centre of dance, women passing in front of men. Join nearer hands or link arms with partners and dance two steps forward then two steps backward (Skip, change). Then 4 slip steps to side lines. Women again pass in front of men.
25–32
First woman changes places with second man giving right hands; with third woman giving left hands; with fourth man giving right hands; and on bars 7 and 8 all four couples turn on spot with 2 pas de basques, clapping hands on bar 7.
33–40
First man changes places with second woman giving left hands; with third man giving right hands; with fourth woman giving left hands and on bars 7 and 8 all four couples turn on spot with 2 pas de basques, clapping hands on bar 7.

From a Strathspey message on 2012–09–21: Corstorphine (a suburb of Edinburgh) is pronounced much like the word endorphin.

Good for performance

This is a fun piece but a little unusual. We have used it in displays to good effect (see the video on this page).
