This title, meaning the silver cup, is usually referenced to the first lines of the song My Bonie Mary by Robert Burns:

Go, fetch to me a pint o’wine,
And fill it in a silver tassie
That I may drink, before I go,
A service to my bonie lassie

This, however, is probably Burns’ reworking of an older ballad attributed to Alexander Lesly of Edin, which opens:

Ye’ll bring me here a pint of wine,
A server and a silver tassie,
That I may drink, before I gang,
A health to my ain bonny lassie
