The notes explain that the original version was “devised by Bill Zobel during the Australian Winter School of 1995 held at Hawkesbury. In his class there were a number of people from Queensland. Queenslanders are renowned as the people who put the bends in bananas!”
And also say “For those who were at Hawkesbury in 1995, the first eight bars of the dance have been modified from the original version. This gives 2nd, 3rd and 4th couples a breather and is for the benefit of those who do not have access to the unlimited energy that derives from a diet of bananas.”
