Mrs. Ysobel Stewart of Fasnacloich, and Miss Jean C. Milligan of Glasgow, worked together to make SCD socially popular again. SCD was in a sorry, chaotic state. Dances were done differently in different areas, and the general tone was rough and anti-social. They succeeded in establishing standardized technique based on thorough research through old manuscripts. Then the first book of selected dances was published by Mr. Diack of Pattersons Publishing Company, free of charge, 6 chosen by Miss Milligan, and 6 by Mrs. Stewart, and a new era in SCD was begun.

Now that SCD is so well supported, there is SCD in nearly every country, books of dances and a standard method of teaching so that technique is the same all over the world. Therefore, when travelling, one can walk into any class and be able to take part. Miss Milligan met a Japanese gymnast who was making a world-wide study of Physical Education. He proceeded to go SCD mad and from then on they say, he ran fantastic SCD classes in Japan.
