Each couple dances once only - moving to 4pl with a modified figure at end of each time through.
Ninety years ago, in 1927, the Scottish Country Dance Society held its first Summer School here in St Andrews. In the same year Book 4 was published.
To celebrate this occasion the team demonstrated three dances from that book. They started with ‘Torryburn Lassies’ then danced ‘Haughs o’ Cromdale’ and finished with ‘The Merry Dancers’. The dancers come from Canada, England, Germany, Hungary, Norway and Trinidad. The team was trained by Mervyn Short and accompanied by Robert Mackay on the piano. Filmed at Younger Hall in St. Andrews, the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society holds their Summer School every year during the months of July and August.
