In general, if you (or any editor) come across empty cribs you should delete them because they serve no useful purpose. I suppose people are making them because they click on the “Add Crib …” function and then change their minds but hit the wrong button to get rid of the dialog window (in the absence of evidence to the contrary I would be reluctant to assume that they’re adding them on purpose – Hanlon’s Razor applies).

One of the items on my to-do list is to add some code to enforce a certain minimum length for newly-entered cribs (10 to 20 characters seem about right). That should put paid to the issue of completely-empty cribs. While I’m at it I may also add the crib-posting permission bit that I talked about yesterday, so if there are in fact funny little pranksters around after all we can keep them from making more trouble. Don’t hold your breath, though.

Also incidentally, I can purge the database of all empty cribs with one command. I just did that, so no further action on your part is required. Perhaps I should just do that automatically once per day.
