Description

Hallo (Meinhard?), I can amplify some of the tune information for the tracks in this album. I have the LP but tunes were not listed on it or its cover. It might be best for me to send an email with details. Track 1 (Rhinns of Kells) has the tune Harvest Home played second before The Trumpet Hornpipe; Track 2 (Curleywee) has 4 tunes, I can name 1, 3 & 4; tune 1 name (original) is in Gaelic and not Curleywee. I can also name all 4 tunes for Track 5 (Cairn Edward) since Hugh F composed and published them all in The Galloway Album dance book; tune 1 is called Cairn Edward. I can’t help much with Tracks 6 & 7, but the dance book says titles of initial (& original) tunes are John McAlpin without a final e for track 6, and Captain Whiteside’s Quickstep for track 7. Both tracks have two more tunes I can’t name. You know Tracks 4 & 8 better than I, but the Jumpin’ Geordie tune in track 4 seems not quite as recorded elsewhere. I can also supply MP3 for snippets but they’ll need editing.

Adrian, On the CD let’s go Scottish country dancing BRH CD77, there are most of the tracks listing the tunes. I’ll complete the tracks I’ve found the tunes in the next days.

I’ve completed missing tune using the CD Let’s Go Scottish Country Dancing Volume 6 - BRH77 CD. The dances Cairn Edward and John McAlpine are not on the CD, though I have got no information for their set of tunes.
