Issue 131: Jim/Jimmy Lindsay

Object
Jimmy Lindsay and his Scottish Dance Band (Person)
Submitter
Helen Beaney
Assigned to
Anselm Lingnau
Priority
Normal
Disposition
Fixed
Description

There seems to be some confusion between two different bands. Reel of the Puffins and the Christmas CD are both by Jim Lindsay and his band, as, I believe, is the CD for Book 8. As far as I know, Jimmy Lindsay (CD for Book 28) is a different person. Cheers, Helen

You’re perfectly right – these are two different people.

I’ll have a look at the CDs you mention in this issue to see whether their records are correct, but in the future if you discover misattributed CDs, recordings etc. could you file issues on the database records in question directly? This makes it easier for us to track the required changes. Sorry if this makes extra work for you, but it would help us a lot. Thank you!

Disposition changed to »Fixed« (previously »Being handled«)

Created records for »Jim Lindsay« and »Jim Lindsay and his Band« and assigned everything on the CDs, »The Black Watch Ball«, »Reel of the Puffins«, the Christmas CD and the Book 8 CD to the latter, as well as the records for the CDs themselves. Also made JL a member of JL and his Band, and »JL and Muriel Johnstone«. (for the Roy Goldring Graded & Social Dances 3 album) This should fix the issue.

Memo to self: As a rule of thumb it seems that anything before 2000 is by Jimmy and anything later is by Jim. (I don’t know whether the two are related.)
