Description

Weasel’s Nest

Thank you very much, Judith, Keith and to me unknown E-Crib-Writer, for your dedication and work for the SCD Community.

E-crib, text bar 7 and 8

  • If 1c release R hand hold on bar 7 and dance PB R (keeping facing partner), it is more difficult for them to pivot ¼ to 3/8 R on bar 8 to face 3rd corners (lack of partnering).
  • If 1c keep R hand hold on bar 7, they have the opportunity to acknowledge partner longer and use their partner´s R hand to pivot easier ¼ to 3/8 R on bar 8 to face 3rd corners.

E-crib and Rose´s diagram: text of / in box bar 9:

  • If “all (three couples) dance clockwise to starting positions”, then 1c must pass partner R shoulder on bar 16 and 24 to do so. (Maybe an alternative for good dancers and youngsters?)
  • Otherwise: only “2c and 3c dance clockwise to starting positions”. Then 1c can / may pass L shoulder on bar 16 to face 2nd corners and on bar 24 1st corners.

Kindest regards Peter Meier, Zurich

I need help here re changes for the e-crib team AND diagram changes from Keith. I asked Judith about the matter, and she replied as follows: “Please do not change the description of bar 7. I do not want the description of bar 7 to be changed. I find just the interplay between holding, letting go, of decidedly turning away from each other, gives a lot of opportunity for flirting. But it remains social dancing. So, of course, at a ball, I’m always in favor of being a little more supportive when in doubt. if someone notices that their partner is having trouble with orientation, strength, or balance, of course I don’t mind reaching out a little more or holding their hand a little longer. On the note about bar 9, I can understand that the diagram saying ‘all dance clockwise back to starting positions’ is misleading. I think it would help to just omit the note completely and just use ‘1/2 Diagonal Weasel Reel with 3rd corners, 1/2 Diagonal weasel reel with 2nd corners’.”
That being said, the e-crib seems to note something that is not in the full description: in the bar 9- section, it is stated: “Finish as started.” That’s not correct IMHO, as dancing couple ist NOT doing the full left shoulder to finish in starting places, but just passing left shoulder on to second corners.
I would ask both parties (e-crib and Keith) to amend their cribs, if possible, and just drop a quick note here once you’ve done that! Thank you, and happy new year!

Heyho to Keith @ e-crib-team, I am pushing this request up again and assign it to Keith to start with. @Keith: can you please assign it back to me, once you are done? Will then deal with the e-crib team afterwards to amend this accordingly. Thanks, Viktor

Hi Roland, I am assigning this to you for final polish. Keith has amended his diagram accordingly, but it would be nice to see the changes on e-crib too to minimize confusion. Once you have done that - can you assign this topic back to me and drop a quick note here? Thanks! Viktor
