Issue 2079: Incorrect recording medium? + Incorrect track numbering

Description

The database entry describes the album as CD+ (whatever that means compared with CD).

Surely this entry should be described as LP and refer directly to the original record rather than the later combined CD (released along with tracks by George Stirrat)?

Thus, the tracks should be numbered sequentially from 1 through to 8 rather than be numbered in reference to the combined CD.

Note that the combined CD (“Let’s Go Scottish Country Dancing Vol 3”) is already listed as a separate album!

Disposition changed to »Being handled« (previously »New«)

“CD+” means “various media including CD”. Albums that are available on both CD and LP is listed in the overview as “CD+” because CDs are the more preferable type of media. If you look at the detail page for the album you will find both the CD and the LP listed.

It could be reasoned that the CD version of the album is more accessible now because the LP is out of print, and that people would prefer the CD numbering of the tracks. But in the interest of historical accuracy, as the Peter White LP was never (to my knowledge) reissued as a CD in its original composition, the SCDDB entry for the LP should reflect the LP and not the recycled form where the LP’s tracks are included in an otherwise completely different CD.

The issue is complicated by the fact that whoever entered the George Stirrat CD made new Recording entries for all of the recordings that are already part of the Peter White CD, which is wrong if they’re the same. To disentangle this, the entries for the Peter White tracks on the George Stirrat CD should be removed and the corresponding entries from the Peter White LP used instead. At the same time we should treat the Peter White album as “LP only” and use the original track numbering; the track numbering on the George Stirrat CD is independent.

This will cause the Peter White recordings to have both the Peter White LP and the George Stirrat CD listed on their “Album” tab, which is how it should be.
