Issue 2215: Title incorrect?

Description

I think the title should be “LADY Nellie Wemys” rather than “LADIE Nellie Wemys”.

“Lady Nellie Wemys” is the name of the tune and John tended to name his dances after the tunes he used!

Thanks Iain.

As you may know, Viktor Lehmann and John Mitchell’s daughter Alison have been editing and electronically republishing the Whetherley books and book 5, containing this dance, is one they have done. You can find the online source via the publication entry at https://my.strathspey.org/dd/publication/455/

That updated book PDF has “Ladie” for both the name of the dance and the tune actually. But I will forward the question anyway. Perhaps its best just to add an alias for the name(s) at least as a help for searches.

Alison Mitchell and Viktor Lehmann confirmed the “Ladie” spelling in the book, so that is left as the official name with “Lady Nellie Wemyss” (also with extra “s”) is added as an alias.

The following part of Alison’s email is added to the extrainfo:

John was a stickler for detail, and “Ladie” would not have been accidental. However, I can well believe that he took the name from a recording of the tune that just “happened” to use that spelling, instead of “Lady”. Certainly, the two are equivalent; but the title is correct as originally published.

My suggestion (if possible) would be to add an editorial note on the spelling and an alias, so that both terms are retrieved via a database search.
