Disposition changed to »Needs help« (previously »New«)

Some of this has been done in response to various other issues.

SCDDB does not yet have a tune “O’er the Bogie”. The John Mitchell dance “O’er the Bogie” uses the tune called “O’er the Bogie tae my Love”. I didnt find the latter on the John Chambers tune finder so have not risked adding a duplicate.

Hi Murrough, There is no issue here. Please visit the MacNab Archive on the LB website. See Dance L07 Sheet 9 and you will see the actual music which you seem to believe doesn’t exist. Best wishes, Stephen

Hi Stephen, to US (editors) there is ALWAYS an issue if names don’t match up 100%, yet might qualify for an unwanted duplicate. A lot of work goes into FINDING duplicates and remove them again, so we are not keen on creating them in the first place. Please understand. No one doubts your submissions and informations; we just have to qualify them seriously before creating inconsistencies in the database. @Murrough: I would suggest to add “O’er Bogie tae my love” as tune, not creating a separate tune entry. Most likely, we talk about the same very old tune. It comes under different names, and there are hits for “O’er Bogie WITH my love”, “O’er Bogie TO my love”, “O’er Bogie WI’ my love” … and I am quite sure that those all are subsumised under “O’er Bogie”. If in doubt, you may leave this issue in its “Need help” state and wait for more sources to come in, leaving the entry as is (no tune).
