Description

Please add to Extra Info. This booklet created by Peter Loveland was a gift to guests at Bill’s 90th Birthday Party held on 2 July 2011 at Carnation Hall jointly given by Maidenhead SCD Club & St John’s SCD Club. During the evening of dancing 7 dances on the programme were by Bill. Music was played appropriately by The Craigievar Band and the three dances in the booklet The Buckie Lad were demonstrated as a medley J/S/R to music specially composed by Alistair Forbes. The three pieces of music and therefore the recommended tunes for each dance were The 1921 Jig/ Bill Forbes’s Strathspey/ The Braes of Enzie. Bill wrote 5 books of Scottish dances and Sheena his daughter plans to publish a sixth of Bill’s completed but so far unpublished dances - watch this space. As a postscript Bill’s 100th Birthday was also celebrated, but posthumously at Hernes Farm Estate, Henley on 14 August 2021 where the Friday Nighters meet in The “Shooting Lodge” which not by coincidence is the name of one of Bill’s dances. Many thanks, Stephen
