Thanks. The extra info for this dance (https://my.strathspey.org/dd/dance/12005/#extrainfo) does mention that there seem to be different versions of this dance.
The scan of the Clapyerhands n Stampyerfeet book available to the e-cribs team does describe it as for a 4 couple longwise set. That has clapping, stamping, advance /retire and turning partner in the first 16 bars but then goes into all casting off, arches and a circle.
MiniCrib (added in cc) say their version also comes from “Clapyerhands”. Maybe there is a revised edition?
