the tune Gillean an Drobhair is specified for this dance.
Amusingly (and perhaps it’s unique) the dance description notes that: “The figures in the Dance represent the letters A N N E”
also, but less amusing,
“The dance was devised by Dr Ellen Garvie. Anne has been the teacher of the Portree since 1975 and the dance was written by Ellen in recognition of Anne’s many hours of labour preparing for, and keeping control of the Portree class.”
