Please add to extra iinfo. This dance was devised by Robert Johnston who was a banker with Chartered Bank and the father of Colin Johnston for whom the tune has been named and composed by Ken Martlew (2002). Lady Fenella was the wife of Air Marshall, Sir Donald Fogarty who commanded the RAF detachments based in Singapore during the Malayan troubles in the early 1950s. Robert devised this dance on the occasion of Lady Fenella’s departure from Singapore in appreciation of her enthusiasm for SCD with other ex pats at Cairnhill Circle. Robert was a keen dancer and from 1925 - 1959 ran classes in China, India, Ceylon, Singapore and the Philippines. Please also see the article by Colin entitled ‘Reflections on my Dancing Father’ on p15 of The Reel 298.
Many thanks
