Issue 416: diagram accuracy

Description

It seems the diagram shows couple 1 ending the dance passing / avoiding each other left shoulder back to places, whereas both cribs imply they cross back to places : Eric F.: ...cross to (2,1,3) (no hand mentioned, so I’d understand Right hand) MiniCribs ... & cross LH to places. So which is right? Passing left shoulder, crossing right h or crossing left h ???

I’d say: the passing in Eric’s Cribs are a bit overexagerated, as is Keith’s diagram (arrows should better go direct than bent) and the cross RH in the Minicrib is wrong.

John Drewry’s original description for the last 8 bars reads: Bars 25-32 1st couple turn first corner right hand, pass partner by the right shoulder, turn second corner left hand and dance into second place own side.

After turning 2cnr LH, 1c is between end couple and dances straight to 2nd place. No hands, evidently they pass Lsh. To avoid the misunderstanding that Odile mentions I have taken out the word “cross” from the crib. I agree with Heiko that the diagram could better show straight not curved lines for [31-32].

In my view, in the diagram, the reel3 symbols for 2c+3c are not clear, they do not show how to start (in or out) nor who has precedence. In addition the turns on bars 16 and 24 are more like 1/4 than 1/2 turns.

My crib is fixed, we are waiting for Keith Rose (diagram) and David Hughes (Minicrib).

Eric
