Issue 508: (The) Riverside

Description

Three dances have this name. I have entered details and 5 videos for the ceilidh dance 5596.

The dance 5597 by Thurston is clearly different; can someone fill in more?

There is no information at all for dance 13595 by Karin Ingram (Heiko has edited it). I found out that Karin was a dance instructor at the Glasgow Riverside club, and that is the club to which the ‘Shearer’ Riverside (dance 5596) refers. It’s probably the same dance. Can we find out who the true deviser is, or is it “traditional”?

Hi Eric,

as I told you already, I am working on this. The dances are not the same. I have an additional inquiry running with the Stirling Branch and will get the descriptions about mid-September, because the responsible person is traveling at the moment. I will also get the description for the Karin Ingram dance from this source if the other person again does not send it.

Be patient! Thanks, Heiko

Dear Eric,

is there any good reason why you converted the “Riverside Jig” (5596) by “L P Shearer” (correct) published by the Stirling Branch (correct) into the ceilidh dance “The Riverside” which is very likely devised by “Karin Ingram” (13595).

Could please undo these changes a.s.a.p. (I cannot tell at the moment which were the original entries) and add them at least to the correct entry in the database (13595).

Before you do such changes, you should make sure that they are correct. This is the reason, why an earlier issue about the Riverside is still open, because there was information inquired from other people which was still not sent.

regards, Heiko

Last was related to “The Riverside” (13595).

Now, also the information about “Riverside” (5596) has been updated. The dance is indeed just called “Riverside” while the tune’s name is “Riverside Jig”.

This dance offers no relation to the Riverside Club.
