Susi Mayr was an excellent dancer and teacher of both scottish country dancing and Step Dancing. She was a co-founder of the RSCDS Vienna Branch and the driving force behind the founding of the International Branch.
Furthermore, she organized the SCD Kaleidoscope in 2009, the first international conference with presentations and discussions covering many different aspects related to SCD. It was a conference for SCD dancers, teachers and musicians from around the world. The conference page is still online.
On 7th July 2012 she lost the battle against cancer at an age of only 55 years.
The Susi Mayr Fund of the International Branch to promote the enjoyment and appreciation of Scottish Country Dancing and its music worldwide is also named after her.
