The winning entry in the competition held by the Pretoria Branch to submit a dance to the RSCDS for publication in their booklet of dances from around the world, “Frae A’ The Airts”.

In commemoration of early South African pioneers who trekked in ox-wagons to the interior of the country and crossed over the Drakensberg Mountains. The ox-wagon is symbolic to South Africa and the Voortrekker Monument is surrounded by a wall of 64 stone ox-wagons depicting the laager of wagons which the pioneers formed when in fear of an attack. The formations in the dance represent the turning of the wheels and the spokes of the wheels.
