There was a long discussion on Strathspey in 2003-2004, trying to identify the author. In July 2011 Andrew Aitken of the "Wichita Scottish Country Dancers" wrote to DD : I first came across this dance in a dance gala posting from the Lees McRae College Banner Elk, North Carolina program back in July 1988. Unfortunately, the program does not list the authors. This is one of my all time favorites.
A crib was received showing the name "B.L. Barnes" in the title. 2 august 2011: this might be Elizabeth (Betty) Lee Barnes, of Washington DC. 30 August 2013: Betty Lee Barnes has denied being the author. The mystery continues.
