On bars 27 & 28 second and third couples need to make sure they are covering as they curve into place, to give this phrase a tidy finish as the first couple simply cast off into third place.
This dance could also be done in a three couple set. With only one change the ending would now be:
Bars 28–32 the first couple turn both hands 1½ times to finish in third place on own sides.
My thanks to Lesley Campbell for her suggestion that third couple cast to enter the reel across (bars 9–16). The formation really does work much better this way.
In 2013 Damon and I danced in Scotland for the first time. Our English base was in The Lake District where we stayed for a week in Chapel Stile.
From there we drove to Kirkcudbright to dance on the last night of their season.
We arrived late afternoon in this pretty, seaside spot and were welcomed by the gathering dancers and spent a very enjoyable evening in warm and pleasant dancing conditions.
Later in the evening I exchanged our email address with Evelyn Thomas who was coming to NZ in 2014. We met up again then and danced together and shared a meal with both Evelyn & her husband, Ian. This dance was devised in memory of a very pleasant night in Kirkcudbright dancing with Evelyn and other dancers from that area.
