Scottish Country Dance Club’s Annual Christmas …
Devised by George Roberts to celebrate Joan Carmichael’s birthday which coincided with the Saltash Scottish Country Dance Club’s Annual Christmas Social held on Saturday 10th December 2005.
“Heagy” and Joan Carmichael used to run the Saltash Scottish Country Dance Club for many years. “Okataina” is the name of their house. They were instrumental in encouraging Scottish country dancing in Cornwall.
George Roberts plays the accordion and is lead of the Scottish Country dance Band, “Celtic Capers” and was playing for the dance that evening. When George plays this “live” he likes to use as the first tune “Peter Sanderson’s Strathspey” which is the first tune played by Hugh Ferguson on Reflections of Dalriada, track 2 for the strathspey “The Red Rose of Dunoon” which is a 4 x 32 bar strathspey.
