Nimbus 2017 depicts a game of Quidditch from Harry Potter. The game is fast, so the team decide to practise slowly (Strathspey), shake hands and then play for real. The Schiehallion reels show one team (the men) racing quickly ahead, followed closely by the other team (women). Then the teams reorganise and try to set up their next plays (hands across and casting off); suddenly the women are in the lead on the reels, and the men are chasing behind. The interlocking half reels of four and turning are further evidence of skilful players trying to outsmart each other on the pitch, before the first man then holds the Golden Snitch aloft in victory at the end!

Nimbus 2017 is a Medley version of Nimbus 2002 by Vicky Goodloe, Kentucky, USA. The adaptation of dance was suggested by John Aitken of The Waltham Scottish Country Dance Group and Vicky has now dedicated the new Dance to this Group who performed it for the first time at the 37th Association of Scottish Country Dance Societies (ASCDS) Festival in 2017.
