The original publication, Two National Dances of Scotland, describes this dance on the cover page, on the title page and on the dance description page as a Reel while the music, in the same publication and with the same title, composed by the dance deviser is in 6–8 time, i.e. a Jig.

This dance is discussed in RSCDS London Branch’s The Reel #301 and The Reel #302.
