Drewry’s notes to the dance say “Glen Truim leads northwards from Drumochter Pass towards Newtonmore. Glentruim House, beside the Spey, at the mouth of the Glen, is the home of one of the Chieftains of Clan Macpherson (Andrew’s Clan). Glentromie (the name of the tune) is the glen to the east of Glen Truim.”
