In the original publication, John Drewry states:
For David Goldberg of Brooklyn NY. February 1993. Bratach Bana is David Goldberg’s favourite dance - this is a 5- couple variation of the dance. The “Goldberg Variations” are a set of variations fir the harpsichord by J S Bach written for J T G Goldberg to play to Count Keyserling as a solace for insomnia. (The dancers cannot afford to go to sleep during this dance!). David loves a play on words, hence the title. Sadly the final version of this dance did not include a back-to- back movement.
