The dance was devised at ...

The dance was devised at the request of the Farnham (Surrey) ScotUsh Country Dance Club, where it was known as the Farnham Ruby Reel, to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

Over the years due perhaps to the town's' proximity to ALdershot - 'The Home of the British Army', a number of soldiers were and are members of the Club - hence the suggested tune "SoLdiers Dance".
