Description

Does someone have a source where this tune is credibly called “Mrs Muir McKenzie’s Favourite”? All the printed sources I have, and especially the RSCDS books (Book 36 and Originally Ours) call it “Mrs Muir McKenzie’s Fancy”, and that is also the name given to it in the 18th c. collection by Malcolm McDonald which is generally considered the oldest publication. This is something that the compilers of CD track notes commonly mess up. Unless somebody can come with a “Favourite” source, I move that we make “Fancy” the actual title and “Favourite” the alias, rather than vice-versa.

Incidentally, this tune is not to be confused with “Mrs Muir McKenzie’s Delight”, also by Chas. Sharpe, which is a different tune entirely.
