It is unlikley that John Thomas Surenne (1814–1878) composed this tune given that it appears as a reel under the title “I am o’er young to marry yet” in Robert MacKintosh’s fourth collection - published in 1803. MacKintosh does not claim it as one of his own, which suggests that it may be by the ubiquitous “Trad”.
As Surenne was a collector of music rather than a composer, the RSCDS’s footnote “Here from Surenne” is not particuarly helpful in identifying the true composer of anything from his collections (most of which are of songs).
