Description

Hi,

Is this a duplicate of Inverquharity Castle #3463 by Angus Cameron? Very similar name (just has the type of dance stuck on the end) and very similar composer (A Cameron and Angus Cameron).

Cheers,

Mark.

“Inverquharity Castle Strathspey” is connected to “Alan Cameron” (not A Cameron) in our database, BUT the only Alan Cameron (composer) I come across on google is rather a modern/classic/jazz composer, not an SCD composer. All other Cameron references on SCD titles with “Inverquharity” I get are ANGUS Cameron. I then compared the recordings for “Delvine Side” Luke Brady (tune 2) to “Rob Roy MacGregor” by Alan Gardiner (Track 7) and they both are identical. I think we should merge those two entries. Any objection?

I tried looking up some other tunes currently assigned to Alan Cameron. I found that in https://oldschoolbeauly.com/products/angus-cameron-of-kirriemuir the list of tunes there credited to Angus Cameron include (probably) two of the four tunes SCDDB assigned to Alan Cameron instead. Those are George Carmichael’s Strathspey (exact name match) and Tony Reid (which is quite possibly the one listed for Angus Cameron as Tony Reid Of Balnakilly).

I will at least reassign those two and mark the two Tony Reid ones are likely duplicates.

If the Inverquharity Castle tune entries are merged or just both assigned to Angus Cameron, that would only leave Ellen Mackay assigned to Alan Cameron. I was not able to find any references to that on the web, only two recordings in SCDDB.
