Probably from the Borders but settled in Edinburgh. Fiddler and composer Published two collections of tunes 1801 and 1802
Some tunes used for SCD and some for step dance, eg Robinslaw, for Highland Ladies (Rene Fidler)
Information on John Pringle is fairly sparse - we dont even know when he died but presumably it was later than 1802, assuming he didn't employ a ghost writer!
