In the variation presented here a right hand turn is substituted for a 2 hand pas-de-basque turn. Setting is demonstrated as marking time in place. The trick is to teach reels of 3 from one position only.

I assume by “the variation presented here” you are referring to the crib you just added?
I edited the crib to add the “ACE” formatting so it gets displayed properly. See https://my.strathspey.org/u/murrough/docs/ContributedCribs/ for details. Basically bar ranges eg 1-8 need to have two colons like 1-8:: to separate them from following text.
There is already a note that there are many variations of this dance.
The Shand recording you mention is already one of 60 known recordings of this dance so nothing to be changed there I think.
