Description

The diagram for Royal Patron appears to contain a minor inaccracy: On bars 21-24, the first couple turn giving left hands to move up to the top of the set. The diagram appears to indicate first couple lead up. Let me know if my interpretation was correct. Thanks again.

The cribs are clear. 1c comes out of the 1c+3c half reel4 meeting partner. They take LH, and make a 4-bar complete turn (one could also call it 1 1/2 turn), till the 1c is between 2c facing own side, 1M a bit above 2M and 1W a bit below 2W. This is a “sliding turn”, the centre moving up while turning. Then 1c+2c Lsh half Reel of 4.

The diagram needs to show this turn.

I should add that the RH turn for 13-16 is also a “sliding turn”, the diagram should show this. Eric

Diagram changed.

My set of instructions for this dance does not actually specify the nember of turns for 1C. It could be 0.5, 1.5 etc. I have put 1.5 on the diagram since they are 4 bar turns.

Bars 17-24 are correct and clear: in the 1/2 reel with 3c, 1c was on opposite side, they make 1 1/2 sliding turn LH to own side between 2c.

However, [13-16] is in error. 2c+3c (who swivel R) dance up along the sidelines WHILE 1W faces R into 1c makes 1 1/4 RH sliding turn to the middle facing opposite side between 3c.

The diagram gives the false impression that all couples turn RH.

Corrected.

I find the original instructions poorly worded. “2nd and 3rd couples turn by the right to dance up,” does not mean that they turn RH as couples, but all four dancers turn singly to their right.
