Alex Doig was a drummer who played with Jim MacLeod’s Dance Band in the 1970s. I don’t know who composed this tune, but I would guess that it was either Doig himself, or MacLeod’s accordionist Tommy Ford. The same composer wrote the following, which the Jim MacLeod band recorded after “Alex Doig’s” in 1977.

About the tune: a leaflet of this dance stated that Tommy Ford, the lead accordionist of Jim Macleod’s Band, wrote the original tune.
The same leaflet also stated the Alex Doig was the drummer for many years with Jim Macleod’s Band.
