The Forfar Branch of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society has its origins in the Angus Branch, which was formed on 29th October, 1934. Subsequently, in the summer of 1953, the Angus Branch split into three separate branches, one of which was the newly constituted Forfar Branch, the others being the present East Angus and Carnoustie, the latter now defunct.
We meet to dance every Tuesday evening September to April at 7:30 pm in the OAP Hall, Chapel Street, Forfar DD8 2AB. Please note this is a new venue as of September 2022. Beginners and improvers are invited to come earlier at 7:00 pm.
We are a fun group who enjoy our dancing. Everyone is welcome to join us, whether a member or not. If you are a beginner, all you need to bring is a pair of soft shoes. You do not need to come with a partner as you will change partners throughout the evening. Scottish Country Dancing is very much a social activity.
The health benefits of Scottish Country Dancing are well documented.
Tuition is provided by our class teacher, Lorna Valentine, who is a fully certificated RSCDS teacher.
The distances in this list are geodesic distances (“as the crow flies”) between places with dance groups, rather than road distances between dance venues. Also note that while there may be several dance groups in the same town or city, their dance venues may be distant from one another even though they are all lumped together under one marker on the map.
