The Windsor, Ontario, Canada RSCDS Branch has been an official branch since 1981. Before obtaining Branch status, they had been an affiliated group, known as the White Cockade (formed in the mid-1960s). The Windsor Branch normally has about 40 members, and has four RSCDS-certified teachers. The group meets once a week at Mackenzie Hall on Sandwich Street in Windsor on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. from September through the end of May. The group has both Level One and Level Two classes during the first hour, followed by a social hour with both groups dancing together. The Branch holds an Annual Ball at the end of October each year, along with Tea Dances and other social events throughout the season. The Branch is unique in co-hosting the annual Border Cities Workshop with the Detroit Branch. The two groups take turns holding the event on either side of the Canada-United States border. Windsor has an active Demo Team that performs annually at events in Windsor such as the Carousel of Nations and Oktoberfest. One of the Branch's most exciting new outreach projects has been holding monthly ceilidhs at the Scottish Club in Windsor. After a fish and chips dinner, the RSCDS Windsor Branch members invite people in the audience to try ceilidh dances. A versatile and talented band adds to the lively atmosphere as both adults and children join the fun. New members are always welcome, and are particularly invited to attend our Open Houses, held in early September and early January. Details may be found on the Branch's website: http://rscdswindsor.org/.
The distances in this list are geodesic distances (“as the crow flies”) between places with dance groups, rather than road distances between dance venues. Also note that while there may be several dance groups in the same town or city, their dance venues may be distant from one another even though they are all lumped together under one marker on the map.
