The RSCDS Saitama Branch was founded in March 2001 by 9 certified teachers and leaders of the Scottish Country Dance Groups. They gathered to talk about it for one year. Many SCDG members are in Saitama-Prefecture, and dancers love SCD and are enthusiastic. The Branch was founded with their help and support. The Branch has about 200 members, and members change less now. They enjoy SCD for a long time. The Branch covers the members in the Saitama-Prefecture area, and some events are planned for the members. The events are branch classes, weekend schools, parties, workshops etc. We regularly publish news letters to the members.

In 2011, we planned to hold a celebration for the 10th anniversary of the Branch Ball and published Anniversary Dance Books, but there was a big earthquake and tsunami in the east of Japan. We had to cancel all of them and couldn't have even SCD regular classes. We were very sad.
The next year we celebrated the 10th anniversary with a party in Nikko, and CDs of 10th anniversary dance books were made by Ian MacPhail & His Scottish Dance Band.

We are planning the Branch 20th anniversary and asking all the members about what to do. We are looking forward to enjoying events of the Branch 20th anniversary.

Nearest Groups

The distances in this list are geodesic distances (“as the crow flies”) between places with dance groups, rather than road distances between dance venues. Also note that while there may be several dance groups in the same town or city, their dance venues may be distant from one another even though they are all lumped together under one marker on the map.
