Welcome to Helensburgh & District Branch.
Our Branch was founded originally in October, 1927 as Western Dunbartonshire Branch but, unfortunately, ceased functioning during the war years although classes continued. However, it restarted in 1952, therefore we celebrate our 70th - or Platinum - Anniversary this year and are holding a 70th Celebration Dance on 11th November.
At the present time we have around 80 members because of whom , with an enthusiastic committee and teachers, we have been able to stay active . We have run a Weekend School for over 40 years with dancers coming from all over the UK and even, occasionally, from other parts of Europe. Due to the pandemic, we were unable to hold our Weekend in 2020 and 2021 but this year, 2022, we ran a successful Half Day School.
We have 2 Branch classes, on a Monday and a Thursday, both of which are held in Helensburgh Parish Church Hall and we also have non Branch classes on Tuesday mornings & evenings and Wednesday mornings, in and around the local area.
We run social dances in October, November, December, January (for Branch Members only) and February (which is our charity dance). We will have either a Helensburgh Weekend School or a Half Day of Dance at the end of March, beginning of April.
All Branch information, including dates & cribs for functions, can be found on our Branch website.
The distances in this list are geodesic distances (“as the crow flies”) between places with dance groups, rather than road distances between dance venues. Also note that while there may be several dance groups in the same town or city, their dance venues may be distant from one another even though they are all lumped together under one marker on the map.
