Gill Loubser (Cape Town Branch) writes" When our club (Bergvliet Scottish Country Dance Club) celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2008, we dedicated a strathspey to Joan in recognition of her sterling work in founding the club and keeping it going for 50 years. Tom Kerr (of Cape Town Wedding fame!) devised a dance called the Bergvliet Strathspey for our 50th anniversary ball held at Cape Town’s iconic Kelvin Grove Club, and, once we had danced it, I announced a name change (with Tom’s permission) to the Joan Evans’ Strathspey.
