This dance commemorates the Sixtieth Anniversary of the formation of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society. The first figure represents the beginning and the progression of the Society, with two dancers travelling in two directions to dance with others until all are dancing. The grand chain shows the links of the Branches, followed by a wheel, which breaks to include opposite dancers signifying how the Society continues to spread round the world. The star includes everyone in a ring of friendly hand-giving, so typical of Scottish Country Dancing. Finally, a circle of diamonds is followed by an all round poussette in the shape of a large diamond which symbolises the Diamond Jubilee.
