Glen Feshie is a wild remote valley deep in the Scottish Highlands along the lower reaches of the northward-flowing River Feshie, a tributary of the River Spey. The River Feshie rises from the ridgeline of the north watershed of the thousand-meter (about 3,300 feet) Grampian Mountains. The river first flows down through the dense Glenfeshie Forest and eventually enters the more open glen in question. About 1½ miles below the tiny village of Feshiebridge it flows into the River Spey at a point considerably above the broad valley called Strathspey.

While the river itself is somewhat longer, the glen with the magnificent 4,000-foot Cairngorm Mountains towering to its east is only about ten miles long. One stretch of the river are particularly “braided,” i.e. divided into multiple interlocking channels.
