More than thirty years ago, there was a Scottish Country Dancing evening class, run by the local authority, based in the John Hanson School. However, it was stipulated that the class would only operate if there was an average attendance of at least fourteen; and, there were occasions when the class was suspended because of this requirement. Several of those attending then were Methodists so, in 1983, we set up a Club at the Methodist Church in Bridge Street, Andover. The Club has always been inter-denominational, and also continues to include those with no church associations; at present, there are some 17 members on the books. We are a friendly Club, with a wide range of dancing ability that welcomes new member.
The club meets on Monday evenings in Amesbury Methodist church hall 7:30-9:30pm. Please contact the group directly for further information. They offer free tasting session to new dancers.
Current number of dancers: 11
The distances in this list are geodesic distances (“as the crow flies”) between places with dance groups, rather than road distances between dance venues. Also note that while there may be several dance groups in the same town or city, their dance venues may be distant from one another even though they are all lumped together under one marker on the map.
