my.strathspey – SCDcial Networking

Welcome to my.strathspey!

This is a community site for friends of Scottish country dancing. Its mission is to give Scottish dancers and dance groups a simple and inexpensive way to publish events, news, stories, dances, tunes, and other material of interest to other Scottish dancers or groups. Participation in my.strathspey is open to everyone and free of charge — subject to some simple rules.

The software behind my.strathspey is still by no means complete and is actively developed further. For the time being, no material can actually be published here except by arrangement, but this will hopefully change VERY soon. In the meantime it is still worthwhile getting a my.strathspey account, because logging in to my.strathspey will enable some special features in the dance database, one of the most popular parts of my.strathspey. You will also (eventually) be able to add yourself or your dance group to the Strathspey directory of SCD groups and the interactive maps (which will be back RSN).

The my.strathspey system is also a powerful base for hosting dance group web sites. It features a convenient system for publishing web pages for events or activities. This system also ties into the dance database, which makes it particularly easy to create event programmes or class »logs« and include them into one's own pages. No more tedious collecting cribs or diagrams, or copying dance particulars from books into programme files – do it in the database using simple drag-and-drop, and use the result in many different places.
