Hi Eric,
I have approved this video snippet. However, on second thought it should not be graded demonstration quality and deserves a few additional comments, because:
- the one-time-though is not complete. instead it starts at bar 8
- it is performed by 6 couples instead of the 4 required by the description
This not to say that the performance was not demonstation quality, but due to the above points it is not perfectly suitable as reference for that dance and should, thus, not go up in the most prominent places in the SCDDB video list.
From the classification definitions, I’d say it should be “reasonable” because the video alone is not sufficient, but requires that for instance someone “has the instructions available”.
This of course only os valid for the last 24 bars of the video.
Best, Heiko

Personally I would prefer the “Demonstration quality” grade to be reserved for videos that show the complete dance on its own, for at least one full turn (preferably more, but not necessarily the full length). I would stay away from taking bits out of a larger display and labeling them “demonstration quality” because they can (and usually do) have their beginnings and ends tweaked to fit whatever comes before or after, and there may be unusual set arrangements – which, even if the dancing is impeccable, makes the video unsuitable for people who are interested in the dance exactly as written.

Disposition changed to »Fixed« (previously »New«)
I have now reclassified both this dance and “New Year Jig” as “reasonable”. This dance is complete, but indeed danced just once through, and with 6 couples. (The first half hour after posting the timing marker was wrongly set, and the first 8 bars were missing; then it looked incomplete).
On Anselm’s general issue: I agree with this proposal. I always give details of any deviations from the official form, but in future will no longer label them “demonstration”.
Fixed. Eric
