Description

Anselm, this is one that you will probably need to look at.

“The Teetotallar’s Reel”, “The Teetotaller” and “The Temperance Reel” are, to my limited knowledge, the same tune.

Certainly, “The Teetotaller” used by Stan Hamilton in his recording of “General Stuart’s Reel”, track 9 on “Scottish Dance Time Volume 1” is the same tune as “The Temperance Reel” used by Ian Slater in his recording “Reel - 8 x 40”, track 1 on “Really Jiggin’”.

The tune is published in “Kerr’s First Collection Of Merry Melodies” on page 35 as “The Teetotaller’s Reel”.
