Description

The figures in this dance describe scenes in Vienna. The third figure describes the Stephansdom or St. Stephen’s Cathedral spire: 3rd couple leads UP the center to the TOP of the set, and leads DOWN to third place. (I have seen your notice and think it worth mentioning why the change of figure.) Figures:

  1. Circle: the RING road in the city: 6 hands round and back.
  2. Promenade: people walking in parks and on pedestrian streets: 3 couple Promenade.
  3. Lead UP and DOWN: St. Stephan’s Spire in City Centre: 3rd couple to make the Spire.
  4. RONDEL: 1s and 2s: Progression: the Prater fun park or reference to La Ronde, a play by Arthur Schnitzler.
  5. Diamond Poussette: for 2s and 1s: WALTZING as part of the Vienna musical history and currently still danced. Thank you. Ann

Seems that this issue had been resolved already. e-crib and diagram seem to be fine. Issue closed.

Hi Ann, thanks for your clearification - I wasn’t really where you felt the “wrong” order is mentioned. The general “figure” section gives a basic overview of the figures, not stating all variations as they appear, but to give an overall impression of the level of dance figures that are in the dance. The editors are not creating special entries for every variation as long as the variation is self explaining (e.g. in this section we do not differentiate between “reels of three right shoulder” and “reels of three left shoulder” either). To estimate which dance level is required, I will keep the basic figure entry “down the middle, up the middle” as is; the crib and the diagram then go into details. Best regards, Viktor

All cleared with the deviser now. Ann wrote back 2022-12-11: “Hello, Viktor, Thank you for your explanation. This is what I surmised so all clear to me. Best wishes, Ann”
