Description

When I try to view the video I get the message that ‘This video is private’.

Can anything be done about this - other than by deleting the link?

Apart from trying to prevail upon whomever originally posted the video to YouTube (possibly but not necessarily the person who added it to the database) to set it to “not private”, probably not.

To Iain and all other readers, This has been danced at at least 8 events; go to the dance page on SCDDB, click on the “Lists” tab, and you can see who organized those events. If you know any of these people, perhaps you could contact them and ask if they know who made a video. I have no addresses of any of these organizers or local groups. Good luck. Eric

It seems that I added that video to SCDDB. It probably came from the Dunfermline branch youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDdm5Sw1FTYyqeNytvPGV9Q) at a time they had it marked as public. Perhaps they no longer consider it good enough.

Iain, you could try asking via the youtube discussion tab on their channel.

Meanwhile I see that the super efficient video finder at the SCD dictionary site has located an excellent video by the Vancouver group which we can add instead.

I think that we can close this issue, with having two new really good videos for this dance. No need to research “lost” ones IMHO.
