Issue 1976: Fairlee Frolic

Description

This dance was actually written as a 5 couple dance originally and is really fun as such. Is there some way to have it show up on the database as a 5 couple dance? If the choice is 3c or 5c, I’d rather it be 5c

Unfortunately the database doesn’t support dances that have multiple shapes/numbers of dancers, and as a matter of policy, if there’s a publication we normally go by what is in the publication – it avoids confusion down the road. I don’t have this book to hand – does it say “5 couples”?

Hi Anselm,

My copy says “32 bar strathspey for three (or five) couples in a three/five couple set”.

Best regards

I have added Holly’s remark in"Extra Info".

Even if the book says otherwise, the deviser now wants it as 5C. It isn’t the first time a dance was changed, and usually we follow the deviser’s most recent opinion.

Roland, why don’t we make it into a 5C dance, with a note that 3C is also possible. If you adjust the SCDDB entry and the e-crib, and Holly adjusts the contributed crib, it will be done very fast.

Anselm, do you agree?

Eric

Hi Eric,

E-crib changed to a 5/5L but we should ask Holly to send us the modified full instructions with a date (instructions modified on …) and ask her if we can publish it on e-cribs.org with an “Online Source” link (Overview)

Best regards
Roland
