Object
Jessie's Hornpipe (Recording)
Submitter
Finlay Forbes
Assigned to
Murrough Landon
Priority
Normal
Disposition
Being handled
Description

I have managed to find an entry for this in the archives of the National Library of Scotland. The entry reads:

Jessie’s hornpipe – Intro. The ton (trad); Man at the lees (trad. arr. J. S. Kerr); Glengarry gathering (trad. arr. Paterson)

I suspect that there is at least one misprint on the label because as far as I am aware, there is no tune in Kerr’s collection called “Man at the lees”. It could be “The (wee) man at the loom”, which would fit the set nicely but as I have no access to the recording, that is just a guess on my part.

Assigned changed to »murrough« (previously »None«)
Disposition changed to »Being handled« (previously »New«)

Thanks. Ive added the first and last tunes to the recording. I added a note (unfortunately not visible to users) linking this issue with your supposition for the 2nd tune.

By the way when looking up Man at the Loom I see the database has two tunes The Man at the Loom #6672 and The Wee Man at the Loom #2967.

From your comment with “(wee)” are these the same tune? Should we remove one and add an alias? If so that should be a separate issue.
